G’day and welcome to the Cookerburra website. Thank you for taking the time to find out a little more about us and our mission to revitalise ovens and appliances across the land.
Our story began in 1993, when co-founder Michael Holloway – an Australian who moved to the UK to work as a chef – identified an urgent need for high-quality domestic and commercial oven cleaning services in his local area. In particular he noted how both commercial and home kitchen sinks were simply not big enough to accommodate oven racks and pan supports, thus making them difficult and messy to clean.
Nobody is more experienced in the art of oven cleaning than Cookerburra
After conducting market research together with fellow co-founder David Dymond, they started Cookerburra – a play on the kookaburra bird native to Australia – operating out of one van in Reading, Berkshire. They cleaned three ovens on their first day on 25 October 1993 – but such was the demand, they had a second van on the road just three months later.
As the very first professional oven cleaning provider in the country, they gradually built up unrivalled experience in deep cleaning all types of domestic and commercial ovens, extractor fans, microwaves and more using unique techniques.
With their outstanding commitment to developing meticulous cleaning methods and unbeatable customer service, it didn’t take long for Cookerburra to “fly the nest”. Cookerburra welcomed their first franchisee in 2001 and we’re proud to say there are a growing number of offices across the country – each providing personal, friendly, and localised oven cleaning services to thousands of customers.
